Maryland Plans to Modernize Crash Reporting Through $13.2 Million Federal Grant 

Maryland received a $13.2 million federal grant to modernize its traffic crash data-sharing system. The five-year funding, awarded through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's State Electronic Data Collection program, will enhance data exchange between local, state, and federal agencies. Announced in early 2025, this initiative supports Maryland's goal of eliminating traffic fatalities. The grant is part of a larger $171 million federal distribution to 19 states under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Project Stargate, launched by President Trump, could drive a surge in AI investments in the US. Wedbush Securities projects up to $1 trillion in AI commitments over time. The initiative starts with $100 billion from Oracle, SoftBank, MGX, and OpenAI to build data centers in Texas, with plans to expand to $500 billion within four years. Indiana Advances Digital Infrastructure to Accelerate AI Integration

The Indiana Secretary of State's Office is accelerating AI adoption through key modernization efforts. The state has led in AI integration, launching an AI risk assessment policy in February 2024, developing AI tools for job seekers, and rolling out an AI chatbot beta in September 2024. In its latest move, SecState partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to migrate two divisions from legacy Microsoft systems to AWS cloud infrastructure. SecState’s Chief Information Officer, Robert Fulk, highlights that public-private partnerships drive innovation, giving the state access to cutting-edge technology and expertise.

New York City Announces Partnership With OpenAI

New York City is solidifying its status as a global AI hub with a comprehensive plan from the NYC Economic Development Corporation. The strategy includes a $3 million AI Nexus initiative to connect local startups with businesses and a partnership with OpenAI to support tech entrepreneurs. It aims to position NYC as a global AI leader, drive business growth, and build a diverse AI workforce.

Key initiatives include an AI literacy program with public libraries and a new internship program linking CUNY students to AI startups. With over 2,000 AI startups already based in NYC, Mayor Eric Adams emphasized, "The jobs of tomorrow are being created today in New York City."
